Respinsive - Filmdoo

As another part of the responsive module, I decided to look into a competition called 'Filmdoo'. 
You can basically design a poster advertising any film, which I really liked as it was very open to what I could do.  

I thought I'd go for a Studio Ghibli film as it's style is open to a very wide range of styles for poster design.

I looked into existing Ghibli posters done by individual artists and there's quite a few different styles of poster, even for the same film.

I prefer quite a minimalist style, so I opted for just a two colour poster.

I thought a good character for this could Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle. As he has a simple design, I thought he'd fit well into a two colour poster.

I designed the poster on photoshop using a mixture of illustration and type. 

I think the posters turned out pretty good. It's very minimalist yet you can tell who it is (obviously if you've seen the film). I think if I did a few more it would make a good set, which I will to enter the competition.
