For my Cbeebies ident, I'm wanting to keep in with their current character style and keep my character very simple.
I think with young kids, it's best to have characters with undefined features so that theres nothing to scare them with (I was a very wimpy kid and found many animated characters scary!).

Past animated Cbeebies idents all seem to feature the same simplistic characters. They are all brightly coloured and seemed to have been created digitally.
With mine, I want to do something a bit different in terms of style.
I sketched a few simple characters of my own as I didn't want to use the original Cbeebies ones.
At the minute, I have a rough idea for my 10 second ident.
With this one, we've been asked to use the Cbeebies logo at the end of the ident.
It consists of my character looking at the screen and then looking down at an object on the ground.
He/she then picks up the object and begins to float up in the air (whilst this is happening, there will be a slide whistle sound effect). The camera then pans to the balloon which is in the shape of the Cbeebies logo.
When it comes to the colour of the character, I want to keep it very gender neutral so it doesn't alienate anyone therefore I'll be steering clear of any blues or pinks.
I asked my two year old niece what her favourite colour was and she said orange so I'll probably go with that.
When I discussed this briefly in my crit it got a pretty good response so I'll probably persue this idea.
E4
Looking at the existing idents for E4, its clear to see that they can be pretty much everything. The brief states that there can't be any 'naughty stuff' and the logo has to feature throughout.
E4 are pretty well known for their random idents.
They're often clearly influenced by pop culture and are definitely aimed at young adults.
A lot of them seem to have been created by non professionals which is probably why they give off such a young vibe.
I want to keep in with this so it still appeals to the audience.
I wanted to do something quite quirky for this ident. I came up with the idea of having a character (who isn't designed yet) on a space hopper which will be purple and feature the E4 logo. He'll bounce across the screen and then the camera switches to a front view with the character bounces towards the screen, then sees a pin on the ground and the space hopper pops. We then see the character sprawled out on the ground and the camera zooms into the burst space hopper to show the E4 logo.
This idea got a pretty positive response in my crit. I was told that it wouldn't be out of place along with the other E4 idents.
I think I'm going to create this digitally using Photoshop.
Discovery
They don't seem to feature any sort of character in any of them.
A lot of them seem to be quite typographical with just the D of the logo being shown.
With my Discovery ident, I'm going to try and keep it as uncartoony as possible. With it being more of an educational channel aimed at a wide audience (of around 12-80+), it has to appeal to pretty much everyone.
I'm thinking of doing a short sequence involving a panda drinking out of a stream with the ripples in the water revealing the Discovery logo.
I'll be drawing this by hand with a rough sketchy effect. Undecided about sound at the minute.
These are all initial ideas, so they may change throughout the project.
