So for this, I decided to have the animation with no colour, just the outlines on top of a background.
I started off by staining some paper with a tea bag and then scanning it in.
I really like the aged effect this has and the textures have come out really well.
Because of how uncomfortable I was using Photoshop to animate my E4 ident, I decided to do this one in SAI. I'm aware this is a habit that I need to get out of, and I have every intention to help myself improve on Photoshop.
Once my paper had been imported, I began to draw.
I started off by drawing the background for the first scene with the vector pen tool. I wanted to make it as sketchy as possible to stick to my original plan, almost to make it look like an animation test.
Looking into the habitat of a panda really helped me with this.
I then drew in the panda again with the vector pen (really easy to manipulate movements).
The green dots indicate where the drawing paths are. Moving them helps create the illusion of movement.
Here is the first part of the walk cycle for my panda. I think considering its my first attempt it's turned out pretty well! This was all I had to show for Discovery in my final crit but it got quite positive feedback. There's a couple of blips here and there but they can be corrected.
