OUAN 504 - Character and Narrative: Item Modelling

As part of the first study task, we were asked to model an item using Maya.
I decided to make mine to fit in with my song choice so I could use it in my final animation. So looking at the lyric 'I want music and clothes and shiny things' I chose to model a ring in a box. 

It was relatively simple to make, to create the box I created cubes, selected and deleted the unwanted faces to hollow it out and beveled the edges to make them rounded. 

The ring was made by using the hoop shape tool and the diamond was done by creating two pyramids and parenting them together. 

I did require some help moving the access point to the back of the top part of the box to create the illusion that it opens and shuts. But this may not be necessary to have in my animation.
