CGI Animation
CGI animation has come a long way from short cutscenes in Playstation games in the 90's. Nowadays, it can be used for a lot more things. One thing in its potential that perhaps film makers have just recently realised is the use of it to mimic the human body to a very high quality. So much so that with how much its progressed over the years, mixed with special effects, it can be used to animate an actor in a film's production - should the actor pass away during it.
A recent example of this is this years up coming Hunger Games film. Phillip Seymor Hoffman passed away last year during filming and to save wasting the money already spent on the film so far, the production team have managed to digitally recreate him in order to finish his scenes.
There is the argument however that it is disrespectful to the deceased and you should leave the dead to rest. To an extent I agree with that but I can also see it from the film makers point of view. Why waste millions on scrapping a film when there's so much potential in modern technology?
