Squash and stretch: We learnt about this in detail, which means giving the illusion of weight and mass and it applies in all forms of animation from a bouncing ball to a walking person.
We had a try at making a ball bounce in a flipbook using the squash and stretch technique.
I quite enjoyed doing this, the squash and stretch is a bit off but I think its alright for a first go.
I'd like to say I improved in my second go but...
Use of arcs and anticipation in the kicking and squash and stretch on the ball.
Some of the feedback I recieved on my flipbooks included:
- The squash and stretch works well on the bouncing ball but when coming back up, it kind of hovers.
- The ball needs less images in between to make it faster but everything else works fine.
I do agree with the feedback that I received as I definitely need more practive with creating flipbooks but I did enjoy doing them.
I found this Dragon Ball Z flipbook video on Youtube and I think the little series of them are amazing. I can't even imagine the amount of time and effort it took for these to work properly but it really shows! I think they're great - really worth a watch.
