The Tale of the White Serpent

Contrary to the massive paddy I threw when I couldn't get the frame-by-frame pendulum right, I really do appreciate hand drawn animation and would like to give it a go properly. I think it takes a lot of patience and attention to detail but the effort really shows through when done correctly.
This scene from the The Tale of the White Serpent (also known as Panda and the Magic Serpent) which was released in 1958 is a beautiful example of traditional animation done well. The characters (especially the animals) movements flow really nicely and the backdrops show an incredible amount of detail. The full film is really worth seeing, I think its lovely to watch. Its animations like this that sway me more toward 2D animation as opposed to 3D.
